Summer’s bio –
Hi, I’m Summer.
I graduated from the Jones College Pharmacy Technology program in 2005. The Jones College program is thorough. We trained with and worked under registered pharmacists. Our instruction included: “drug classifications, common drug side effects, drug use and abuse, FDA testing, and biotransformation of drugs in the human body. . . therapeutic classification of drugs, generic and trade names, transcription abbreviations, and pharmacy math and dosage calculations . . . methods of drug preparation, packaging and distribution as well as the functions and services provided by the hospital and retail pharmacy . . .”
This program taught me a holistic view of medications.
- How to Read Prescriptions
- What Drug Interactions Should Patients Know
- How to Avoid Mistakes in Filling Medications
- How to Help Pharmacists Provide Quality Care to Our Patients
Jones College provided me with this foundational knowledge.
After graduation, I went to apply that knowledge. For six years, I served our troops at Camp Shelby. I helped our Army National Guard make sure they had proper mediations during their time in south Mississippi and during their deployments.
After Camp Shelby, I experienced the corporate world, serving south Mississippi at the Walmart Supercenter in Laurel. I worked my way up the ladder to the position of Lead Pharmacy Technician. I managed the entire pharmacy technician team to better provide the residents and seniors of Jones County with their pharmacy needs.
While working at the Walmart Pharmacy I often wondered, “Why are these seniors paying so much for their medications?”
I really wanted to help seniors with this, so I started working with Mr. L. Hardie Perritt in 2019. Over the past 3 years, he has become my mentor in better serving the seniors of South Mississippi with all of their retirement needs.
To better serve seniors, I have yearly education on the latest laws and the requirements to serve those needing help transitioning into retirement. An important part of my help includes helping seniors make the best choices for their Medicare plans. Local Medicare Plans Agents
